The Ngorongoro Crater, at 2286 meters above sea level, is the largest unbroken caldera in the world. The crater (610 metres deep and 260 km squared) is a microcosm of East African scenery and game. Scenic grandeur and stunning views are the hallmark of this "8th wonder of the world".
The Maasai tribesmen have traditional grazing rights here and they may be seen in their distinctive dress, tending their herds of cattle.
