Ruaha National Park
Experience Serengeti from above
Conquer the highest peak in Africa
Gazetted in 1964 as the country's second largest park, Ruaha National Park is vast, wild and isolated. The Park has the Rungwa and Kisigo game reserves within it and thus is a part to an extended ecosystem  Large areas of Ruaha remain unexplored.

Bordered by the Great Ruaha River in the East and Mzombe River in the West, visitors are struck by its beauty and vast expanse of wilderness stretching out to the hazy blue hills of the Southern islands

Home to the lesser and greater Kudu as well as the rare Sable and Roan antelopes, the park is a permanent predator ground for lions, jackals, hyenas and the rare wild dogs.
The migration of the Eurassian birds takes place twice a year (April / May). The birds join the already high number of resident species like kingfishers, hornbills, egrets, shimmering sunbirds and plovers.

Almost 400 Bird species have been recorded in the area. The Great Ruaha River has innumerable Hippos and Crocodiles and lots of water birds also.

The best time to visit the Ruaha is during the dry season, Mid May to December, when one can see predators and large mammals as the bush has died down from lack of rain, and they concentrate at the sparse water courses.
January to April is wonderful for birdlife, lush scenery and wildflowers but many roads become impassable after heavy rains.
